My name is Krysta, or Kas for short. I've been passionate about dogs and dog behavior all my life. With many years of experience in training and rescuing dogs, I currently hold a Master of Science in Animal Health and Behavior. Although I considered a career in veterinary medicine with the intention of applying for a DVM, my heart led me toward dog psychology and behavior. I served in the US Coast Guard, both active duty and reserves, as a Response Ashore Officer until I settled in Washington with my two young children to pursue my passion for working with canines. Over the last year, I contracted as a trainer with one of Spokane's most popular dog training companies. However, I decided to branch out and apply all I've learned about different methods of dog training through my diverse professional, volunteer, and educational experiences. Dog behavior is much more complex than most realize, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to training. I take pride in evaluating each dog's background, needs, and challenges, using a multi-method approach to achieve the ultimate goals for each individual dog and their owners. Dog training is fundamentally about establishing a trusted partnership between human and canine companion, built on an appropriate hierarchy informed by dog psychology. Not all dogs are the same. While we begin with a foundational understanding of basic dog psychology to establish obedience, there’s much more to training that includes breed behaviors, individual backgrounds, and experiences. Plus, don’t forget to consider all those unique personalities! If you're interested in learning more, feel free to contact us at kask9s.org, where we are launching soon.
